Dancehall star Vybz Kartel remained jail last night even as sales of the shoe brand Clarks, which he recently sang about, is skyrocketing.

Kartel was detained last Friday at the Greater Portmore Police Station three days after Jamaica police named him and five other men as major persons of interest. The artist, whose real named is Adijah Palmer, was questioned in relation to criminal gangs in Portmore, St Catherine.

Last night he was still detained but could be freed today since his detention order expires after being extended from 24 hours to five  days. Still Security Minister Dwight Nelson can extend the entertainer`s detention on advice from the police under the current State of Public Emergency under which he was detained.

His detention comes as British media reports indicate that sales of the British shoe brand Clarks has rise since the deejay released the single, `Clarks` with lyrics: `Everybody haffi ask weh mi get mi Clarks.`

Palmer, says he owns over 50 pairs and has since released two follow-up singles - `Clarks Again` and `Clarks 3.`

Interestingly, the 40-year-old singer says he is not receiving any money from Clarks for promoting their products so publicly.
